Playback theatre "plays back" personal stories shared by audience members through various improvised theatre forms. This interactive approach allows the audience to see their own experiences reflected on stage, fostering a sense of connection and shared humanity. This is an invitation for the audience to reflect on their own identities, question societal norms, and embrace the beauty of individuality.

Playback Theatre is an international form of improvisational storytelling with companies in over 70 countries. Pittsburgh Playback, founded in 1986, looks to create community through interactive storytelling between actors and the audience. Our goal is to express and honor the full range of human experience with our workshops and performances.
