Looming is a work in progress preview of the evening length work Lost on a Loom. Set to premiere at KST's Alloy Studios in November 2023, this dance theatre work explores lost South Asian Histories through the lens of Indian Textiles and Fabrics.

About the Company/Performers:
Mita Ghosal, Choreographer
​Inspired and driven by the ways in which movement, emotion and story intersect and collide in both revealing and unexpected ways, Mita Ghosal’s choreography utilizes tools from Contemporary Dance, Yoga, Theatre and the Poetic and Revolutionary voices of her Bengali ancestors to guide her in artistic craft. Her Dance Theatre work has been presented by many professional venues in New York City including the Joseph Papp Public Theatre, the New York International Fringe Festival and the Current Showcase. In Los Angeles her work has been presented through REDCAT at the Walt Disney Concert Hall and Highways Performance Space. In Pittsburgh, she has presented her original style of choreography through The Pittsburgh Fringe Festival,  Wood Street Galleries, KST’s NewMoves Contemporary Dance Festival and Freshworks Artist Residency. In 2021 her Dance/Storytelling/Photo Art Collaboration with Sue Abramson, “Of Lungs and Leaves” won for Best Director in the Pittsburgh Virtual Fringe Festival and in 2023 her work “Selected Fabrics” won for Best Local Show and Best Movement Artist. She holds a BA in Theatre from Penn State University, an MFA in Dance/Choreography from UCLA, is a dedicated practitioner of Ashtanga Yoga, studying this style with its late founder Sri K. Pattabhi Jois in Mysore, India  and is a Certified Movement Analyst through the Laban/Bartenieff Institute in New York City.

Dancer Biographies
Hannah LeComte is a graduate student and research assistant at Duquesne University, as well as a freelance dance artist in the Pittsburgh area. Before moving to Pittsburgh, Hannah danced with the Big Muddy Dance Company in St. Louis. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Ballet from the University of Oklahoma, as well as a Bachelor of Arts in History. She trained at summer programs including American Ballet Theater, Cincinnati Ballet, Kansas City Ballet, Richmond Ballet, and Alabama Ballet. She is excited to work with Mita in her upcoming project. Sarah Corinne Zeni is currently working on her doctor of physical therapy at University of Pittsburgh.  She earned a BS in exercise science with a minor in dance at Slippery Rock University.  A Morgantown, WV native, Sarah Corinne has studied with Morgantown Dance Studio, Alchemy Dance Project, Goucher College, Florida State University, BalletMet, WV Governor's School for the Arts, San Francisco Conservatory of Dance, and Martha Graham School of Contemporary Dance. Emily Phillips, originally from Dallas, TX, graduated from Point Park University with a B.F.A. in dance and a modern concentration. Growing up, she trained in various styles before joining the inaugural class of the Joffrey Ballet School’s Jazz and Contemporary Trainee Program in Texas. She has trained with Hubbard Street Dance Chicago and Alonso King’s LINES Ballet and she continues to work with Rhythmic Souls Tap Company as a teacher and performer. She is currently a dancer, teacher and choreographer in the Pittsburgh area.
