Work with us!

Volunteer During the Festival for a few hours or days!

2020 Shifts will be up closer to the festival.

The Pittsburgh Fringe is run entirely by volunteers, and we need your help!  As a fiscally sponsored non-profit organization, we rely on the kind hearts and strong shoulders of those who love the Fringe. We are looking for outgoing, dependable and friendly candidates to usher, scan tickets, help with production and pre-production activities and generally fill in wherever an extra hand is needed.

Festival Volunteer - Help for a few hours or a few days!  Here are some ways you can help...

What we need:
  • Ushers: scan tickets, and help guide audiences to their seats
  • Ticket Sales: sell tickets with a computer program
  • Floaters:  Help wherever we need help at the time!
  • Simple tech: Help set up, and help shows with their fast turn around.
  • Stage Management: Help run simple sound and light cues for a show.
  • Photographers: help us capture the festival!
What we expect:
  • You will represent the Fringe in a positive manner.
  • You will treat all artists, staff, audience and fellow volunteers with respect.
  • You will be clean, awake and sober during all shifts.
  • You will arrive for all Fringe commitments on time.
What you get:
  • Pittsburgh Fringe shirt to wear during your shift, and to keep (one per person).
  • For every 4 hour shift receive 4 free vouchers.  Depending on the price of the show you should be able to see 1 to 4 shows with these vouchers.
  • Work 2 shifts or  more,  and in addition to your free vouchers, receive an official Pittsburgh Fringe Button.

Prepare for the Festival Super Amazing Volunteer - Want to do more than a few hours or a few days? See below for some tech and "executive" volunteer positions!  If you need to intern or do school volunteer hours, let us know.  We are happy to coordinate with your university  to sign any necessary paperwork (and we have professors volunteering with us, so they know what types of experiences you need!).

Management Positions open for Pittsburgh Fringe

Applications open until filled.  We will usually see candidates in batches to save time.  We prefer to do an in person interview in the festival zone prior to acceptance.

We are looking for the following positions, but are willing to change or alter positions to fit your needs if you are a good match.
If you just want to help us during the festival to collect tickets, we will put out a call for volunteers of this sort later.  This is primarily for managerial volunteers who want to help run the festival, or managerial interns.

We are an entirely volunteer-run organization.  Even our Executive Director does this for the love of it, so there will be no compensation (only T-Shirts, buttons, great titles, experience, and friendship).  We will have a few spots available for folks who live outside of the city, or out of town, and need some overnight housing, but we can only accommodate a few of these positions, and they are reserved for folks who help us in the weeks leading up to the festival, and are taking on more responsibility.
