Thanks for considering the 2020 Pittsburgh Fringe. We want to to help make your show successful. We will do all we can to make the Festival an overwhelming success, and we look to you, our participants, to help build buzz around the community and help drive ticket sales and donations to keep the Fringe Festival going for years to come. Because we don’t curate, we are not eligible for most of the grants in the Pittsburgh area, so we are an entirely volunteer run organization. Our volunteers believe in the work that we are doing, and in the work that you are doing, and want to help you succeed. We are proud to work with such talented artists, and we are thrilled to bring such innovation and creativity to Pittsburgh.
WHAT IS TEEN OR COLLEGE FRINGE?
Teen or College Fringe are Pittsburgh Fringe programs that accept shows produced or performed by teens or college students. It doesn't have to be entirely produced by teens or college students, because we also accept Teachers or Professors that want to enter shows if they include Teen or College student performers. Or really if a Teen or College student is producing a show with adults in it. Or maybe a teen or college student wrote the production. There are a lot of ways to be categorized as a Teen or College Fringe Show. If you are unsure, please feel free to ask us!
What is the advantage? They will not be competing against all the other shows for awards. Also, Teen and College Fringe shows will receive discounted application fees ($15 instead of $35) and a discount on fringe registration fees (about 50% off), everyone involved in the production will receive artist rush passes to the whole festival for the cast and crew, and you gain an opportunity to perform outside of your school. We also have special awards for the Teen Fringe and another special award just for College Fringe, so you aren't competing against the professionals from New York in the award categories. (But you do get to meet them!) Also, there is a good chance (we can't promise for legal reasons) you end up with a Pittsburgh in the Round review for your show - wouldn't that look swell on your college application, or resume!
If you are thinking about it, but have a lot of questions - let us know! We are super eager to help Teens and College students get a chance to produce and perform at our festival. And if you need help with anything, budgeting, fees, advice, application extensions - just ask - we have a bit of a soft heart for those who want to learn!
Please email us with any questions, and help. We already do that for the non-teens and college artists, but we really want to help you and make sure you can figure everything out!
